Althea Loderick, Member of the Council
Althea Loderick joined the HR Society in 2013. She is currently Director of Human Resources and Transformation at the London Borough of Waltham Forest, a role that encompasses the human resources service, organisational development, transformation and business change and ICT.
Althea has led the organisation in restructuring and designing new ways of working to deliver the council’s priorities including the successful achievement of significant budget savings. One of her early challenges was leading a programme of change to council terms and conditions to modernise working arrangements such that residents needs come first.
Before joining Waltham Forest, Althea was a service director in a national policing role where she led people strategy and workforce modernisation and change programmes impacting across the policing workforce of almost a quarter of a million officers and staff. Many of the current changes being implemented in policing sat within her remit as the lead for national workforce policy and in this role she was involved in both national and international programmes.
Prior to this, she was the deputy director for organisational development in HM Prison Service where she was the lead for, among other things, people strategy, workforce change and the then new HR Operating Model.
She is passionate about high-quality public services and, having spent 10 years of her career as an operational manager in housing associations before going into HR and OD, is absolutely focused on the ways in which HR and other support services should underpin the successful delivery of business and organisation priorities.
